Interior Designer Job Description

Reports to:   Interior Design Manager

On Projects, Project Architect / Project Manager, as appropriate

Description: The Interior Designer assists the Interior Design Manager or Project Manager in the interior design and FF&E selection and procurement of the project and as such is primarily responsible for conceptual interior design, space planning, interior design development, and FF&E selection, specification, procurement, and installation. Ensures assigned Interior Design project tasks are in accordance with the firm’s policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

    1. Develops and modifies interior design drawings and FF&E selection according to established standards.
    2. Conducts and documents:
      1. Interior Survey
      2. FF&E selection and product evaluation
      3. Analysis of alternatives and design parameters
      4. Specifications
      5. Drawings
      6. Space Planning
    3. Responsible for the accuracy of assigned work.
    4. Responsible for production and preliminary check of the interior design work.
    5. Adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards.
    6. Contributes to project team morale and motivation.
    7. Develops knowledge of all aspects of interior design.
    8. Understands the scope and requirements.
    9. Maintains proficiency in verbal and written communication.
    10. Reviews documentation of meetings and written communications prepared by the Project Manager.
    11. Develops up to date knowledge of products and materials.
    12. Develops proficiency in interfacing design work with architectural construction documentation.

Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design required.
    2. Advanced degree a plus.
    3. Experience in Interior Design a plus.
    4. Proficiency in Adobe Software a plus
