Description:
This course offers a review of the content of the ANSI/BIFMA e3 2019 Furniture Sustainability Standard including scope, structure, elements, etc., as well as information on the third-part LEVEL certification process. It is intended to familiarize A&D professionals, facility managers, commercial building owners, customers, dealers, and manufacturers with e3 and LEVEL so that they may understand the specifics of the standard in a framework that showcases how it applies to their need to specify sustainable products.
Learning Objectives:

- Identify BIFMA and understand its role in the creation of the ANSI/BIFMA e3 furniture sustainability standard and how LEVEL assures users of certification.
- Explore the sustainability attributes that are measured in ANSI/BIFMA e3 and certification by LEVEL and discuss how certification products are evaluated focusing on the health, safety, and wellness impacts.
- Understand the difference between single and multi-attribute evaluation programs and consider the areas where LEVEL goes beyond the requirements of the leading building rating systems.
- Explore the various ways to use LEVEL to compare products and understand how the available tools will streamline the specifying process.
