SUMMARY:Designing Rooms for Acoustics CEU- Presented by 3Form
DESCRIPTION:Join Us Via Zoom: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87010892176?pwd=LzY1c2J0dXptbE5yQnExTGRMZXZCQT09 \nMeeting ID: 870 1089 2176 \nPasscode: 391222 \nFree for all to attend \nContact:  Corinna Bailey – corinna.bailey@3-form.com \n3Form (https://www.3-form.com) \nCredits:                                \n IDCEC  \nCEU Credit 0.1 \nSubject: Technical Knowledge: Acoustics \nDesignation: Health Safety Welfare \nAIA \nCredits: 1 LU Hour \nHSW: Yes \nProgram #: Acoustics CEU \n  \nDescription: \nThis presentation will educate audiences of the importance of acoustic design; review the history of room acoustics; introduce basic acoustic concepts and surfaces; and talk about the future of acoustic design with the purpose of creating favorable experiences for occupants that can be conducive to learning\, improve productivity and foster a sense of well-being. \nLearning Objectives: \nAcoustic environments affect how we work\, play\, heal and learn. Room acoustics is a field with a rich history and an exciting future. Sound acts like a complicated wave with a large range of scales and magnitudes. The properties of sound are measured in a variety of ways to simplify this complication into a usable form. All surfaces are acoustic and exhibit a combination of reflection\, diffusion\, absorption\, and transmission. Acoustic design is most successful when the materials\, techniques\, and integration with non-acoustic performance are all in harmony. \nPresenter Bio: \nZackery Belanger’s work is driven by the integration of acoustics into architecture. He holds M.S. degrees in Physics (Oakland University) and Architectural Sciences (Rensselaer). From 2002 – 2010 he consulted and developed acoustic geometries and materials for projects such as Rensselaer’s Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center [EMPAC] in Troy\, NY and Royal Festival Hall in London\, UK. In 2013 he was named the inaugural Researcher-in-Residence at EMPAC\, where he began development of a new framework for the design and assessment of acoustic architecture. He founded the Detroit-based studio Arcgeometer in 2015. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Talk Story With Jalene Hitzeman of Noho Home
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for our ‘Talk Story’ session with Jalene Hitzeman\, president and creative director of NOHO HOME! \nA natural born creative\, textile designer Jalene Kanani began her creative expression through hula\, beginning at the age of 3\, and within 3 years she was a regular keiki performer in Don Ho’s iconic Waikiki show.\nJalene started out with corporate job in furniture flooring and equipment supply. Her experience inspired her to parlay her tribal prints into a collection of home goods in unexplored areas of Hawaiʻi’s interior industry.\nIn 2018 she launched NOHO HOME with a line of bedding featuring her distinguished patterns. With dreams of new textiles and product development on the horizon\, Jalene’s success in the world of home decor has only just begun. \nVisit her website to learn more!\nhttps://nohohomehawaii.com/\n@nohohome \nContact info: \nKellye Greco \nkellyeg@g70.design \n  \nZOOM INFORMATION \nJoin Zoom Meeting \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87579757632?pwd=RE5kVnV2VW0zMFRrMlJRQzBQQ2xJUT09 \n  \nMeeting ID: 875 7975 7632 \nPasscode: 618193 \nOne tap mobile \n+12532158782\,\,87579757632#\,\,\,\,\,\,0#\,\,618193# US (Tacoma) \n+13462487799\,\,87579757632#\,\,\,\,\,\,0#\,\,618193# US (Houston) \n  \nDial by your location \n+1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma) \n+1 346 248 7799 US (Houston) \n+1 669 900 9128 US (San Jose) \n+1 301 715 8592 US (Germantown) \n+1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago) \n+1 646 558 8656 US (New York) \nMeeting ID: 875 7975 7632 \nPasscode: 618193 \nFind your local number: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/kbYFXvjag

SUMMARY:COVID Talk- Fostering Wellness During COVID-19 Outbreak Discussion with Dr. Keith D. Pedro
DESCRIPTION:Join us on October 5th via zoom 12pm HST for a discussion opportunity with Dr. Keith Pedro and his team on the pre/post COVID changes both personal and professional. Dr. Pedro is a clinical and forensic psychologist who will discuss on ways to fostering wellness during the COVID-19 outbreak. \nAttendees are encouraged to submit questions to be addressed anonymously by the presenter. Please submit questions via email to Greg Endo\, greg@pacificasourcing.com\, by 5pm Thursday 10/1/2020.  \nZOOM LINK: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86162287573?pwd=eWtnNTdtcTZSTGZxSm02MUFOQWJkUT09 \nDuring this discussion\, we will be focusing on two main points: \n\n\n\nLearning to adapt to unforseeable changes and building resiliency \nTaking a “proactive stance” and “control” of one’s environment after assessing where one is in this current situation\n\n\n\nMore information on the topic of discussion from Dr. Pedro: \nThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic may be stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about a new disease and what could happen can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. Public health actions\, such as social distancing\, can make people feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety. However\, these actions have been deemed necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Coping with stress in a healthy way will make us\, the people we care about\, and our community stronger. \nEveryone reacts differently to stressful situations. \nHow you respond to stress during the COVID-19 pandemic can depend on your background\, your social support from family or friends\, your financial situation\, your health and emotional background\, the community you love in\, and many other factors. The changes that can happen because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ways we try to contain the spread of the virus can affect anyone. \nPeople who may respond more strongly to the stress of a crisis include: \n\nPeople who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 (for example\, older people\, and people of any age with certain underlying medical conditions.)\nChildren and teens\nFamily members providing direct care for family members or loved ones. For many of us here in Hawaii\, caring for our elderly is a customary/traditional- especially so for Asian families\nThose who use substances or have a substance use disorder\nPeople who have lost their jobs\, had their work hours reduces\, or had other major changes to their employment\nPeople who are socially isolated from others\, including people who live alone\, and those who relocated here for work prior to the pandemic.\n\nYour may find yourselves experiencing secondary traumatic stress which results from someone we know experiencing the primary stressor. \n  \n
